How to Download YouTube Videos

YouTube has fast become the second largest search engine behind Google. You can search and find jus about any topic from how to fix a leaky faucet to some funny and moving content. If you find a video you’re particularly fond of and would like to save it to your computer there are several online websites that allow you to download YouTube videos. The best and easiest way we’ve found to accomplish this is with a site called Keepvid.com. You do not need any kind of membership to this site. It is free and you can do unlimited downloads.
Here are the steps to downloading a YouTube video on your computer:
- Go to YouTube and find the video you would like to download.
- From there, go to the right hand side where it says URL (see screenshot)
- Open http://keepvid.com in a new window
- Cut and paste the URL (example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UsKAjQsOGg) into the specified area on the KeepVid site and click “download”
- Select options from low quality FLV to higher quality MP4
If you need the video in a different format, you may need to purchase a video file converter such as Movavi or one of the others.
If you would like to download a video from another site, Google video, Metacafe, etc. you can use another site such as http://videodownloader.net
If you are using the material for other than your own personal viewing pleasure you may want to ask for permission since copyright laws may be in effect.
